TN-IWAW Events Highlights

Stones River National Battlefield Garlic Mustard Pull

Despite a chilly morning start, Stones River had a very successful garlic mustard pull at the park with 16 volunteers (including students from MTSU and two families with their children) contributing a total of 48 hours. The garlic mustard pull was done in an area hit by the April 2009 tornado. The park is seeing many invasive species popping up there, so this work really helped them get a head start. Sequoyah Birthplace Museum, Vonore, TN

On Feb. 27, 12 volunteers removed at least five 15-foot trailer loads of privet shrubs – some as high as 25 feet. What a difference a few hours of work can make! Privet hedgerow before work begins.
